WPIAL teams advancing to PIAA basketball championships
Three boys’ teams and three girls’ teams from the WPIAL are heading to Hershey to compete for the PIAA championship. As the final games approach, the latest power rankings show Neighborhood Academy boys and Upper St. Clair girls at the top. In the boys' rankings, Neighborhood Academy leads with an impressive record of 28 wins and 1 loss. South Allegheny follows in second place with 27 wins and 3 losses. Sewickley Academy comes in third, boasting a 24-5 record, while Upper St. Clair drops to fourth with 26-3. The remaining boys’ rankings include Chartiers Valley in fifth place, Aliquippa in sixth, North Catholic in seventh, Greensburg Central Catholic in eighth, Jeannette in ninth, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in tenth. No teams have dropped out this week. In the girls' rankings, Upper St. Clair is on top with 23 wins and 6 losses. South Fayette is second with a strong 28-2 record. Shady Side Academy follows in third place. Peters Township drops to fourth with 26 wins and 4 losses. The other girls' teams in ranking include North Catholic in fifth, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in sixth, Oakland Catholic in seventh, Blackhawk in eighth, Union in ninth, and Greensburg Central Catholic in tenth. Like the boys’ rankings, there are no changes in this week's lineup.
