The current world record for the largest Maine Coon cat is held by Barivel, who measures 47.2 inches (1.2 meters) long. He took the title in 2018, surpassing the previous record holder, Ludo, by just 0.6 inches. Before Barivel, the record was held by Stewie, who measured 48.5 inches (1.2 meters) but passed away in 2013. Stewie held the record posthumously until 2015. Maine Coons are known for their friendly nature and can weigh between 10 and 25 pounds (4.5 to 11.3 kilograms). They are often referred to as "gentle giants" due to their affectionate temperament.
