Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre in Jefferson, Wisconsin, one of the state's few remaining drive-in movie theaters, has permanently closed after the 2024 season. Owner Lee Burgess retired and put the property up for sale, citing a desire to spend more time with family. The drive-in, originally built in 1953, was revived by Burgess in 2000 after he purchased it out of bankruptcy. The closure of Highway 18, along with the Chilton Twilight Drive-In, leaves Wisconsin with only eight drive-in theaters, including one in Franklin. The Highway 18 property is currently listed for sale.
