Wisconsin's Democratic counties lead in absentee ballot returns ahead of election
More than 1 million absentee ballots have been returned in Wisconsin ahead of the Nov. 5 election. Milwaukee and Dane counties, both Democratic strongholds, lead in returns, with 86% and 89% of requested ballots submitted, respectively. Waukesha County, a Republican-leaning area, has also seen high turnout, with 91% of absentee ballots returned. This marks a shift in voter behavior, as support for Republicans in surrounding counties has declined since 2016. Voter enthusiasm appears strong, as evidenced by record turnout in the August primary. Wisconsin remains a key swing state, with close margins in recent elections highlighting its importance.
