Will Smith cleared in $1.7 million copyright lawsuit over Gemini Man
Will Smith has been cleared of all claims in a $1.7 million copyright lawsuit related to the film 'Gemini Man.' A federal judge dismissed the case against him, but it will continue against other defendants, including Skydance and Paramount Pictures. The lawsuit was filed by sci-fi author Ken Sibanda, who claims 'Gemini Man' resembles his 2011 novel, 'The Return to Gibraltar.' Sibanda alleges that key elements from his book were used in the film, which has been in development since 1997. Sibanda previously sent a legal notice in 2020 but received no response. His earlier lawsuit was dismissed due to copyright registration issues. He refiled the complaint in 2024, including Smith as a defendant.
