Western and central U.S. may see record-breaking temperatures
Spring temperatures are set to rise significantly across parts of the western and central United States this week. This warming trend could lead to record-breaking high temperatures in several states. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that temperatures might reach triple digits in some areas. The warmest weather is expected along the West Coast and in the Desert Southwest, particularly on Tuesday. Texas, Arizona, California, Washington, and Oregon could see some of the highest temperatures recorded this week. Forecaster Bob Oravec from the NWS noted that temperatures could hit the upper 90s in the Desert Southwest. He emphasized that this time of year often brings record-high temperatures in these regions. The NWS has alerted the public to prepare for the heat. Phoenix, Arizona, is expecting highs near 100 degrees. Meanwhile, Las Vegas anticipates temperatures in the 80s and 90s, with a cooldown expected later in the week. Austin, Texas, is also preparing for a warm week, with dry conditions early on, followed by showers and thunderstorms later. Overall, above-average temperatures will likely continue across much of the U.S. for the next two weeks, according to the NWS Climate Prediction Center.
