Waltair Railway Division reports record growth in freight loading and revenue for 2023-24

The Waltair Railway Division has achieved significant growth, surpassing 75 million tonnes in freight loading and earning over ₹10,000 crore in revenue for the financial year 2023-24. It ranks fifth in revenue and sixth in freight loading among Indian Railways divisions. Visakhapatnam Junction has maintained its top position in the East Coast Railway Zone for the third consecutive year, with a passenger footfall of over 27 million. The station has also received a 4-star rating for food quality. Development projects are underway at 15 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, including new lifts and platform extensions. The division has introduced new Vande Bharat Express trains and added general coaches to improve accessibility for passengers.
