Walmart is recalling nearly 18,000 electric scooters due to battery safety concerns. The lithium-ion batteries can overheat and pose fire and burn hazards. There have been seven reported incidents, including one fire that caused injuries and property damage. The affected scooters are the SG-5 Swagger 5 Boost models, sold in black or silver from May 2018 to October 2024. Model numbers include SWGR5-V2-SLV and SG-5S, found on the scooter deck. Customers who bought the scooters from Walmart or Sam's Club will receive an email with refund instructions.
