Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer confirmed the updated ID.3 will not be renamed "ID. Golf," emphasizing traditional names are reserved for EVs truly matching their combustion counterparts. The upcoming ID.3 and ID.4 will receive significant upgrades, including a move to the improved MEB Plus platform. The ID.3's facelift will focus on a completely revised interior, addressing previous criticisms of material quality. Schäfer also stated that traditional model names will be used for new or significantly revised models when their characteristics align, citing the upcoming ID. Polo as an example.
