Villa Romana awards 2026 prize to four artists

The Villa Romana announced the recipients of its 2026 prize, awarded to four artists for their contributions to expanding artistic practice. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Villa Romana's founding. The selected artists are Charmaine Poh, Susanne Sachsse, Mikołaj Sobczak, and Gülbin Ünlü, chosen by jurors Franciska Zólyom and Johannes Paul Raether. The winners were nominated by Karimah Ashadu, Rosa Barba, Carina Bukuts, and Leonie Radine. The Villa Romana Prize, established in 1905, is the oldest German art prize, supporting artists. The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media is a main sponsor.
