Victorian church in Redbridge transformed into stunning pool
A unique swimming pool has been created in a former church located in Redbridge, London. This church was once part of the Claybury Hospital, a psychiatric facility that operated from 1893 until 1997. The hospital closed due to fewer patients after the NHS began. Now called Repton Park, the area includes luxury flats, parks, and a health club managed by Virgin Active. The stunning swimming pool maintains many original features, such as gothic arches and stained glass windows. It measures 24 meters long and includes modern amenities like showers, a hot tub, and a steam room. Visitors describe the pool as "magical." Some have shared feelings of being awed by the church's beautiful architecture while enjoying a swim. Access to the pool is for members only, but guests of Virgin Active members can visit using guest passes. The gym inside also features an impressive ceiling and large windows. It offers various fitness classes, including spin, yoga, and personal training. A café serves all-day breakfast and smoothies for post-workout nutrition. Repton Park is known as a celebrity hotspot, having been home to stars like Jeremy Clarkson and Kate Moss.
