Vatican includes LGBT Catholics event in 2025 Holy Year calendar

The Vatican has added an event for LGBT Catholics to its official calendar for the 2025 Holy Year, marking a notable shift in its approach to the gay community. The pilgrimage, organized by "La Tenda di Gionata," is scheduled for next September. The event will include a prayer vigil at a local parish before a visit to St. Peter's Basilica. A Vatican spokesperson clarified that the inclusion does not indicate official support for the group's activities. The Holy Year begins on December 24, 2024, and runs until January 6, 2026. It is expected to attract around 32 million visitors to Rome, where special "Holy Doors" will be open for pilgrims.
