Vandalism spree damages businesses in Peachland, B.C
In Peachland, British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Legion was vandalized in an egging spree that also affected several local businesses. The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, when a vehicle drove by and passengers threw eggs at the legion’s windows. Jean Saul, the legion’s president, expressed sadness over the act, saying, “It really hurts.” Dona-Lea Paige, the operations manager, called it “an act of vandalism” that is disheartening, especially since the legion supports veterans and their families. Saul urged those responsible to reflect on their actions and remember the sacrifices made by the military. At least four local businesses were also targeted during the incident. Kelly Kalesnikoff, owner of On Beach Boutique, found her front door covered in egg when she arrived for work. She spent about an hour cleaning up the mess and mentioned that such vandalism harms small businesses. The legion is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. Saul hopes the community will treat the venerable building with more respect. The local RCMP are asking anyone with information about the vandalism to come forward and contact the West Kelowna detachment.
