Uttar Pradesh expects 45 crore devotees at Maha Kumbh Mela with crowd management challenges

The Uttar Pradesh government estimates over 45 crore people will attend the Maha Kumbh Mela this year. In the first six days, more than seven crore devotees have already participated. Managing such a large crowd presents significant security challenges. To address these challenges, the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has been established. It uses 2,750 cameras for surveillance, monitoring crowd flow, and ensuring fire safety. The ICCC has been effective in managing crowds during key events. Seven main routes connect Prayagraj to other cities, with parking arrangements made to facilitate traffic. The use of artificial intelligence cameras enhances crowd control efforts, providing real-time data to improve management during the event.
