A US company, Firefly Aerospace, successfully landed its Blue Ghost spacecraft on the Moon early Sunday, marking the first upright landing by a private mission. The landing occurred near Mons Latreille in Mare Crisium. The spacecraft touched down at 3:34 am ET, with mission control celebrating the achievement. This landing differs from the first private mission last February, which landed sideways. Blue Ghost is part of a NASA-industry partnership and is designed to operate for 14 Earth days. It will capture high-definition images of a total eclipse on March 14 and a lunar sunset on March 16.
