US gains access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will sign a deal with US President Donald Trump, granting the US access to Ukraine's rare earth and critical minerals. This agreement aims to support Ukraine's reconstruction and economic recovery after the ongoing war with Russia. Under the deal, Ukraine will contribute 50 percent of revenues from its state-owned resources to a joint Reconstruction Investment Fund. The US will support Ukraine's economic stability but will not provide direct security guarantees. Ukraine holds significant mineral reserves, including rare earth elements essential for high-tech industries. However, many deposits are in areas currently controlled by Russia, impacting Ukraine's economy and global supply chains.
