US envoy signals Europe may be sidelined in Ukraine negotiations
U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg has indicated that Europe will be excluded from negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. This follows meetings with European leaders Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, who sought a stronger role for the EU. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the EU may be consulted for sanctions relief but emphasized that concessions will be needed from all parties. This contrasts with the EU's goal of holding Russia accountable for its actions in Ukraine. Recent discussions among European leaders focused on increasing support for Ukraine and ensuring robust security guarantees. However, concerns remain about a potential rushed deal that could allow Russia to regroup for future conflicts.
