US embassy in India adds 250,000 visa appointments for tourists and students

The US Embassy in India has opened 250,000 additional visa appointments for Indian tourists, skilled workers, and students. This move aims to assist many applicants in securing timely interviews for travel to the United States. The embassy has processed over one million nonimmigrant visa applications for the second year in a row. During the recent student visa season, a record number of applications were handled, ensuring first-time students could secure appointments. In 2024, more than 1.2 million Indians have traveled to the US, a 35% increase from 2023. Currently, at least six million Indians hold nonimmigrant visas, with the embassy continuing to issue thousands more.
