US AI Users Least Optimistic Globally About Tech Benefits

A new Gallup poll of 37 countries finds only 36% of Americans are optimistic AI will improve their lives, making them among the least hopeful globally and the most worried, compared to 93% optimism in China. The survey shows 74% of AI-aware U.S. adults are most concerned about the technology, followed by the Netherlands at 67% and Britain at 63%. Americans also ranked 14th in daily AI use, behind Singapore, China, Canada, and Britain. Gallup senior scientist Pablo Diego-Rosell noted U.S. attitudes are strongly polarized, with trust being the key factor in adoption. The poll, conducted with Microsoft, surveyed about 1,000 people per country and will eventually cover 140 nations.
