Ukrainian HIMARS destroyed four Russian helicopters in Belgorod
Four Russian helicopters landed near the front line in Belgorod Oblast, Ukraine. The helicopters included two Mil Mi-8 transports and two Kamov Ka-52 gunships. Ukrainian special forces were on alert, using a drone to monitor their movements. A High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) was also ready for action. On Monday, Ukrainian forces struck the helicopters with precision. They launched four rockets from as far as 57 miles away. The attack resulted in explosions that destroyed all four helicopters. This strike was part of ongoing small-scale raids by Ukrainian brigades in Belgorod, where they are exploiting issues in Russian communication and coordination. Additionally, Ukrainian jets targeted a Russian command post in Glotovo, reportedly destroying its communication hub. This attack is part of a broader campaign in Belgorod, and it carries a sense of revenge. Last year, Russian artillery had destroyed Ukrainian helicopters in Novopavlivka, killing two pilots. Recent months have seen an increase in Russian attacks, including the destruction of Ukrainian HIMARS and other key assets. However, the quick response by Ukrainian forces on Monday demonstrated their capabilities in targeting enemy assets effectively. Over 37 months of conflict, Russia has lost around 120 helicopters, and Monday's raid accounted for a significant portion of these losses in a single day.
