Ukraine will release two new commemorative 5-hryvnia coins in June, honoring Ukrainian ceramics and the self-propelled howitzer "Bogdana." The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) announced the new coins, with a total mintage of 75,000 each. Simultaneously, the NBU will remove coins issued before 2003 from circulation to streamline the currency system. The NBU is also discontinuing the production of 50-kopiyka coins. The older coins can be exchanged. This is part of a broader effort to optimize the range of coins in circulation.
