UK loans £2 billion from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine
UK Minister Rachel Reeves announced a plan to loan over £2 billion from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine for military funding. This loan will be repaid using profits from sanctioned Russian assets. The agreement was signed with Ukraine's finance minister. The funding will be delivered in three annual payments of £752 million and is part of a larger G7 initiative to provide $50 billion to support Ukraine. This comes in addition to the UK's existing commitment of £3 billion per year for military aid. European leaders will meet in London to discuss responses to recent tensions between the US and Ukraine, following a controversial meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting aims to address defense spending and security concerns.
