UK lends Ukraine £2.26 billion for weapons production
Ukraine and the UK have signed a £2.26 billion loan deal to boost Ukraine's defense, funded by frozen Russian assets. This agreement aims to enhance Ukraine's domestic weapons production. The deal was finalized during a virtual ceremony with finance ministers from both countries. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the agreement in London, with Zelenskyy calling it "true justice." This loan comes ahead of a major summit in London focused on European security. Leaders will discuss strategies to support Ukraine's war effort and improve defense cooperation in Europe, independent of the US.
