Two Maoists surrender in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitharama Raju
Two members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered to police in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. They are Ravva Kosa, also known as Jagadeesh, and P. Ramesh. Kosa is 22 years old and from Yetapaka, while Ramesh is 26 years old and from Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar explained that both men decided to leave the Maoist group due to decreased public trust in the party, disillusionment with its ideology, and growing awareness of government development programs. Kosa joined the Maoists at age 17 and had held a command position. Ramesh joined in 2016, serving as a commander as well. Kosa had taken part in several armed confrontations over the years, while Ramesh was involved in attacks on police camps and had carried a rifle. Both men expressed concerns about discrimination against tribal members within the Maoist party. As part of the government's Surrender & Rehabilitation policy, each man will receive a reward of ₹4 lakh to help them transition to a peaceful life. They will also be eligible for other support. Bardar encouraged other Maoists to take advantage of government welfare schemes.
