Two Israeli hostages return home after decade in Gaza
Six hostages were freed by Hamas on Saturday in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Among them were Hisham al-Sayed and Avera Mengistu, who had been held in Gaza for over a decade after entering the area in 2014 and 2015. Both men had a history of mental illness and were not connected to the Israeli military. Their families expressed relief after years of uncertainty about their condition, with Mengistu's family highlighting their suffering during the long wait for his return. Hamas had previously released videos of the hostages to pressure Israel for a prisoner swap. In addition to the hostages, Hamas also held the bodies of two Israeli soldiers from the 2014 Gaza war, one of whom has been recovered.
