Two avalanche victims in southeastern B.C. identified

Two of the three men who were killed in an avalanche in southeastern British Columbia have been identified. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon while the men were skiing near Kootenay Lake. Alex Pashley, an employee of The North Face, was recognized for his adventurous spirit. The company expressed its sorrow on social media, stating that he touched many lives with his kindness. Pashley is survived by his wife Erin and his two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Dale and Rainer. The second man, identified as Jeff Keenan, was well-known in the snowboard community. Mt. Seymour stated that he played a significant role in the local snowboard scene. He was part of a group known as the Skids during the 90s and 00s and helped organize the Baked Salmon Banked Slalom event. A third man, who was a guide with Stellar Heli Skiing, also died in the avalanche. He was 53 years old, and his identity has not been released. A 40-year-old man from Nelson is currently in critical condition following the accident. At the time of the avalanche, two groups of skiers were filming footage when the avalanche struck. The pilot of their helicopter noticed the danger and warned one group, allowing them to escape. Unfortunately, the second group was caught in the avalanche.
