Trump praises Modi as tougher negotiator during White House press conference

US President Donald Trump praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "much tougher negotiator" during a joint press conference at the White House. Trump stated that Modi's negotiating skills surpass his own. Trump's remarks followed his criticism of India's high tariffs on American imports. He noted that India has some of the highest tariffs globally, stating, "India traditionally is just about the highest tariff country." This is not the first time Trump has acknowledged Modi's negotiating abilities. He previously praised Modi during his earlier presidency at the Namaste Trump rally in Motera.
