Trump announces extradition of Mumbai attack suspect to India
US President Donald Trump announced the extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, to India. This follows the US Supreme Court's rejection of Rana's legal appeal last month, allowing the extradition process to proceed. Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, was arrested in 2009 for aiding the attacks. India has sought his extradition since December 2019. The US State Department has confirmed its support for India's efforts to bring Rana to justice. India is preparing to extradite Rana, with plans for a National Investigation Agency team to travel to the US for his custody. After extradition, Rana is expected to be held in Tihar jail in Delhi.
