Online conversations about tourism have shifted in the last three years, moving from cultural topics to concerns about tourist apartments and displacement of residents. This change is revealed by the Tourism Perception Barometer. The Barometer, developed by LLYC, analyzes online discussions on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), forums, and digital media. It tracks sentiment, finding a significant increase in negative opinions about tourism, with 65.9% of messages being negative in the second quarter of 2025. The study, which analyzed 4.5 million messages since early 2022, contrasts with data from three years ago when positive sentiment was much higher. The shift reflects growing concerns about the impact of tourism.
