Toronto restaurant Yueh Tung marks 40 years with special Lunar New Year menu
Yueh Tung, a Toronto restaurant known for Hakka Chinese cuisine, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Sisters Joanna and Jeanette Liu are taking over the Lunar New Year cooking for the first time, following their parents' recent retirement. The restaurant will offer a special Hakka menu on January 25 and 26, featuring traditional dishes and a lion dance performance. The menu includes items like sizzling chili chicken and wok-fried lobsters, reflecting both family recipes and personal touches. Yueh Tung has remained a staple in downtown Toronto despite changes in the area. The Liu family has run the restaurant since the 1980s, gradually introducing Hakka flavors to the community.
