Top recruit Aaliyah Chavez commits to Oklahoma

Aaliyah Chavez, the top recruit for the 2025 class, has officially committed to play basketball at Oklahoma. She made her announcement on Tuesday and chose the Sooners over several other schools, including South Carolina and UCLA. Chavez was the last uncommitted player in ESPN's HoopGurlz top-100 rankings. She expressed her excitement, saying she feels like she is joining a family at Oklahoma. Her goal is to help bring a national championship to Norman. The 5-foot-11 point guard from Lubbock, Texas, recently won a state championship with her high school team. In the final game, she scored 19 points and was named MVP. Over her high school career, she has scored nearly 4,800 points and recorded over 1,200 rebounds and 771 assists. Oklahoma's recruiting class already includes other talented players, and Chavez's commitment is expected to improve their ranking significantly. She is known for her scoring ability and strong defense. With several current players graduating, Chavez could have the chance to play significant minutes next season.
