Tiruvannamalai builds tanks for Girivalam path water supply

thehindu.com [$]

Tiruvannamalai Corporation will build overhead tanks (OHTs) to ensure a continuous water supply to washrooms along the Girivalam path near the Arunachaleshwara temple. This is due to the increasing number of pilgrims. The corporation plans to construct at least two OHTs, costing Rs 30 crore, to address the inadequate water supply to the existing washrooms. The tanks will each hold one lakh liters and draw water from Sathanur dam and Samuthiram lake. The project aims to improve sanitation for the large number of visitors, especially during festivals, and protect the local forest and wildlife. Currently, the path has 57 washrooms, with plans for 223 more.
