TikToker convicted of raping woman from Tinder
A TikTok personality from Singapore was found guilty of raping a woman he met on Tinder. The ruling was made by the High Court on March 21. Lev Panfilov, 28, faces two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of outrage of modesty. His sentencing date has not yet been announced. The incident occurred on January 12, 2021, after the woman, then 30, went to his flat to work on her script. They had originally met for drinks to discuss her writing. After moving to his home, he kissed her despite her saying "no," and the situation escalated into violence. After the attack, the woman sought medical help and reported the assault to the police days later. Panfilov admitted to having sex with her but claimed it was consensual. He argued that she made the first advances and cast doubt on her timeline for reporting. During the trial, the woman provided a detailed account of the events, while Panfilov’s testimony was found inconsistent and less credible. The judge noted significant contradictions in his statements. Ultimately, the court concluded that the woman's testimony was convincing and credible, leading to Panfilov's conviction.
