Tigers sign Manuel Margot; Parker Meadows injured
The Detroit Tigers announced on Monday that they have signed veteran outfielder Manuel Margot. To make room for Margot, outfielder Parker Meadows has been placed on the 60-day injured list. Meadows was expected to be the team's starting center fielder but hurt his right arm during spring training and is dealing with a nerve issue. He will not be able to play again until late May. Manuel Margot, 30 years old, is known for his skills against left-handed pitchers and has played for teams like the San Diego Padres and the Tampa Bay Rays. However, he struggled last season with the Minnesota Twins, posting his lowest performance at the plate. Before joining the Tigers, Margot signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this year. The Tigers signed Margot to a one-year contract. The team is hopeful that his experience and skills will help fill the gap left by Meadows' injury. The Tigers' roster now includes other notable players such as Javier Baez, Gleyber Torres, and rookie Spencer Torkelson, while several players are currently on the injured list.
