Thunderbirds lose 4-1 to Islanders in Bridgeport

The Springfield Thunderbirds lost to the Bridgeport Islanders in a hockey game on Saturday, finishing with a score of 4-1. This match took place at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Thunderbirds started the game poorly, allowing the Islanders to score first. Chris Terry found the net early in the first period, putting Bridgeport ahead 1-0. Springfield quickly responded with a goal from Nikita Alexandrov, assisted by Matthew Peca, which tied the game at 1-1. As the game progressed into the second period, Bridgeport took advantage of a penalty against Springfield. Adam Beckman scored from a power play, making it 2-1. Shortly after, Beckman added another goal, extending the Islanders’ lead to 3-1. In the third period, Cam Thiesing intercepted a puck and scored again for Bridgeport, pushing the score to 4-1. Springfield struggled offensively, managing only seven shots during the final period. Bridgeport's goaltender, Henrik Tikkanen, had a solid night with 21 saves. The Thunderbirds will have the chance to bounce back when they return home next weekend to face the Iowa Wild, with games scheduled on Friday and Saturday.
