Three heli-skiers killed in B.C. avalanche
Three heli-skiers were killed on Monday in an avalanche in southeastern British Columbia. The victims were identified as Jeff Keenan, 44, from Whistler, and Alex Pashley, 45, from Idaho. The third victim, a 53-year-old guide from Kaslo, has not been named yet. Keenan was a co-founder of a well-known snowboard company and considered a key figure in snowboarding culture. Pashley worked as a photographer and marketing manager at The North Face. Both were remembered with heartfelt tributes from friends and colleagues. The avalanche struck while two groups of skiers were waiting in a staging area. One group managed to escape, but the other was caught in the slide. A fourth person was critically injured and brought to the hospital. The area had a high avalanche risk that day due to rising temperatures.
