Thirteen girls escaped from Siwan shelter home

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

In a bold late-night escape, 13 girls managed to flee from a shelter home in Siwan district. The incident occurred at the Vrihad Ashray Grih late Thursday night, where the girls reportedly climbed over a 14-foot-high barbed-wire wall. This has raised serious concerns about security at the facility. Despite having CCTV cameras, wardens, and security guards, the girls escaped without being noticed. The local police have started a major search operation to find them. All of the missing girls are from Siwan and Gopalganj districts. Some of them had been rescued from an orchestra group. This is not the first time girls have escaped from this shelter home. Similar incidents have happened multiple times in the past 12 years. Following the escape, the Siwan district magistrate, Mukul Kumar Gupta, visited the shelter home to assess the situation. Families of the girls gathered at the facility and alleged that the escape might have been helped by someone inside. An FIR has been filed at the Women's police station based on the warden's report. The district magistrate confirmed that CCTV footage shows the girls climbing the wall. So far, eight of the missing girls have contacted their families, while four others are speaking to acquaintances. One girl has already been found. To assist in recovery efforts, a special task force has been established. The district magistrate assured that all missing girls would be found within 24 hours. Additionally, three staff members have been found negligent and are likely to face disciplinary action.
