Meteorologists attribute the mist to recent changes in wind direction, predicting it will persist for several weeks. Visibility is severely limited, especially in the mornings, affecting traffic on major highways. Police patrols are increasing in frequency to monitor driving behavior. Mist typically reduces visibility to about five kilometers, while fog can cut it down to just half a kilometer.
