The Diplomat opens weakly at box office

John Abraham's new film, The Diplomat, opened with a morning occupancy of just 7.31%, significantly lower than the last Bollywood Holi release, which had 89% higher occupancy. This marks a notable decline compared to his previous films. In 2016, Abraham's Holi release, Rocky Handsome, earned 7.6 crore on its opening day. In contrast, The Diplomat is expected to earn between 2 to 2.5 crore, potentially one of the lowest openings this year. The film's performance may improve over the Holi weekend, aided by positive word-of-mouth. However, it started much weaker than Abraham's last release, Vedaa, which had an opening of 6.75 crore.
