Thailand's Brics membership boosts economy and cooperation

Thailand's Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa defended the country's membership in Brics, stating it serves national interests and boosts the economy. He highlighted the importance of having a voice in global issues alongside other developing nations. Maris noted that joining Brics offers Thailand access to new technologies and a large market, enhancing cooperation among developing countries. He emphasized the shared goal of promoting multilateralism to balance interests globally. He clarified that joining Brics does not require parliamentary approval, as it is not considered a treaty. Thailand is also involved in other international frameworks, including the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and negotiations with the European Union.
