Dutch authorities announced that tests on recalled Haribo candies found no evidence of cannabis, contradicting earlier reports of contamination. An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the illnesses reported after consumption. The initial recall of Haribo Happy Cola F! ZZ candies, with a January 2026 expiration date, followed reports of several illnesses, including a child falling into a coma, after consuming the sweets. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) had previously reported finding cannabis. The investigation, conducted by the Dutch Forensic Institute, found no cannabis or related substances in the tested candy batches. Haribo has expressed relief, stating their products are safe, and the company is not implicated in the matter.
