The Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC) has launched a new host institution programme to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the state. On Wednesday, TGIC signed agreements with 18 colleges to support this initiative. The goal is to create "Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cells" at each college. These cells will serve as local hubs for students and local entrepreneurs. They will help spread TGIC’s activities across all districts, maximizing its impact. Meraj Faheem, the Interim CEO of TGIC, said this programme is vital for developing a sustainable innovation ecosystem in Telangana. She emphasized that success depends on ensuring access to innovation at all levels in the state. The 18 colleges will play a key role in driving grassroots initiatives for the TGIC. They will organize awareness sessions, engage with industries, and empower students and local innovators. Some of the colleges involved in the programme include the University College of Engineering, Kothagudem, and R.B.V.R.R. Women’s College in Hyderabad, among others. This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and the community to enhance innovation.
