Teen lied about stolen car possession

cleveland.com

A 15-year-old girl told South Euclid police a fabricated story about how she came to be in possession of a stolen car. Officers stopped the vehicle on July 20 due to a lack of license plates. The girl initially claimed the car belonged to her grandmother and the temporary tag was at home. However, a registration check revealed the car had been reported stolen from Maple Heights. The girl admitted to taking the car without her grandmother's knowledge, using the key fob to start it and intentionally leaving the fob behind to prevent it from being turned off.
