Teen charged with murder in Baytown playground shooting

A teenage boy has been charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a 14-year-old girl at a playground in Baytown, Texas. The incident happened on Friday afternoon at about 4 p.m. The girl, identified as Anaya Zachary, was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Both Anaya and the boy are students in the Goose Creek CISD school district. According to police, there was an altercation between them earlier that day, possibly on the school bus. Later, while Anaya was at the playground, the boy approached her and shot her. The police have not named the boy because he is a juvenile. They are also investigating whether the boy's parents will face any charges related to the incident. Goose Creek CISD released a statement confirming the tragedy and mentioned that staff and parents were notified of the girl's death. The school district plans to offer support to students and staff on Monday.
