Tech leaders support new partnership for public interest AI ahead of Paris summit
A group of 11 tech leaders has endorsed a new partnership aimed at developing "public interest" artificial intelligence (AI). The Current AI organization announced this initiative ahead of a global AI summit in Paris, which starts Monday. The partnership will receive $400 million in funding from various governments and organizations. Current AI plans to raise up to $2.5 billion to provide developers with access to data, open-source tools, and infrastructure to assess AI's social and environmental impact. Current AI will focus on projects in healthcare, linguistic diversity, and science. French President Emmanuel Macron stated that this effort will help develop AI ecosystems in France and Europe, promoting market diversity and global innovation.
