Tamil Nadu teachers seek unified college admission process

The Association of University Teachers (AUT) in Tamil Nadu is urging the state government to establish a unified admission committee for both self-financing and aided college streams. This aims to ensure fair fee structures and prevent exploitation of students. The AUT also demands that aided colleges adhere to government-prescribed fees and implement the Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act. They are calling for administrative reforms, including appointing a bureaucrat as Periyar University's registrar and investigating fee irregularities at Tiruvalluvar University. Furthermore, the AUT seeks implementation of UGC regulations, resolution of salary delays for Bharathidasan University staff, and elections for the Pachiayappa’s Trust Board. New office-bearers were elected on May 25th, 2025.
