Tamil Nadu offers weekly vaccinations at health centers
Tamil Nadu will now offer vaccination services every Wednesday at all 4,848 rural and 500 urban health and wellness centers. This initiative aims to improve vaccination coverage and reduce drop-out rates, supplementing existing outreach sessions. The state has a long history of immunization programs, starting in 1978. Currently, it provides 11 vaccines to children and pregnant women, achieving over 98% immunization coverage with around 1.4 crore doses administered annually. On National Vaccination Day, officials encouraged adherence to the National Immunisation Schedule. They also released educational materials to promote vaccination efforts and protect against various vaccine-preventable diseases.
