Taiwan destroys 900 kilograms of Indomie instant noodles after finding carcinogenic pesticide

unwire.hk (Chinese)

Taiwanese authorities intercepted 900 kilograms of Indomie instant noodles due to the presence of a carcinogenic pesticide in the seasoning packets. The seasoning packets were found to contain ethylene oxide, a banned pesticide in Taiwan, at a concentration of 0.1 mg/kg. The entire shipment, imported by Wanchuan Enterprise Co., Ltd., was ordered for return or destruction. This is not the first time Indomie has faced such issues, with similar findings reported in 2023. Ethylene oxide is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
