Tainan conducts first national resilience drill with 1,500
Taiwan held its first large-scale emergency response drill in Tainan City. The drill involved around 1,500 participants, including city officials, police, healthcare workers, and volunteers. It simulated an explosion at Anping Harbor that resulted in approximately 200 casualties. The government established an "expanded emergency medical facility" to handle the influx of injured individuals. The exercise tested the response of healthcare services when hospitals are overwhelmed. President Lai Ching-te and other officials supervised the various components of the drill. Medical staff from the Chimei Hospital took over military equipment for treatment. The event included thorough training for triage and emergency procedures. Participants managed to maintain focus on their tasks despite media presence, showcasing the preparation and realism of the exercise.
