Syrian military operation against Assad loyalists concluded
The Syrian defense ministry announced the completion of a military operation against loyalists of former President Bashar al-Assad. The clashes in Assad's coastal region resulted in over 1,000 deaths, primarily civilians, according to a monitoring group. Defense ministry spokesperson Hassan Abdul Ghany stated that public institutions can now resume operations. Plans are in place to continue addressing threats from remnants of the former government. Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa pledged to investigate the violence and hold accountable those who violated authority. An independent committee will be formed to examine the clashes and ensure justice.
